What is your favorite food? If you will ask me, I have plenty of favorite dishes. Among my favorite dishes, I like spaghetti, pizza, and grilled chicken in garlic sauce the most. I also love superman crèpe and empanada which are my aunt’s specialty. It always gives me a certain kind of thrill whenever these foods are served on the table. I tried to learn how to cook them, but unlike my siblings and elders, cooking was never my forte. They are edible alright but you will never dare eat them if you have other options. There are even times when I think that I am adopted because of my lack of culinary skills. But there is not a doubt that I am my parents’ child.

Because of my lack of culinary skills, I always end up at my aunt’s restaurant which is just one block away from my rented apartment. I know that I can always order these foods online but that is kind of boring at times. I often go to my aunt’s restaurant. Unlike other restaurants, they do not serve the same type of food. The devastating effects of typhoons, twisters and other acts of nature can cripple a town, city or even a nation. Sadly, none of us can stop these acts of nature. But it does not mean that there is nothing that we could do about it. Surely, we are all aware why these acts of nature keep happening more frequently than they used to. It is because of our greediness and carelessness which brought about these acts of nature. 

It is perhaps impossible to stop all greedy people from abusing what nature has given us. But as citizens of our nation and as steward of Mother Nature, we should practice vigilance by raising social awareness. Both private and public sectors are working hand in hand in the campaign to protect our nature. With the use of signage, billboards, banners, posters and the social media, private and public sectors have somehow successfully raised social awareness even in the most remote places. It is quite impossible not to notice these huge billboards illuminated with gooseneck lights. As we all know, billboards illuminated with gooseneck lighting fixtures and other advertising materials have been effectively used to advertise new and upcoming products and events.

It may take eons of time for the Mother Nature to heal. Some even say it is not possible as there will always be greedy people among us. But nothing is impossible as long as we take our stand in protecting the gifts of our nature. Raising social awareness in protecting our nature through signage, billboards, banners and other means to let the public know of about the cause and effect of abusing our nature requires continuous funding. We should bear in mind that there is something more valuable and precious than money.

Movie Watching Is Fun

Watching movies is an all time family entertainment which everybody enjoys. Most families I know either owns a DVD player, smart TV or a home theater system for the whole family’s enjoyment. Some would even subscribe to a satellite or cable provider which carries their favorite movie channel so they could watch movies any time. At home, since we are not subscribed to any cable or satellite providers, we only rent or buy DVD’s of our favorite movies so we could watch them during weekends. Oftentimes we would do a movie marathon during those days especially when work becomes so stressful. There are also times that we would hit the movie houses together with our friends after work. 

I always have a great time whenever we watch movies in the theater. It feels like you are a part of that movie. So whenever we can, we watch movies in the theater at least once or twice a month. However, the only thing which I do not like whenever we watch movies in the theater is that my eyes do not easily adjust to its dark surrounding. I am only thankful that there are step lights which guide moviegoers like us to their seats. Oftentimes, we would sit near the properly illuminated Exit sign so we easily get out of the theater if in case something bad happen such as fire. We also make it a habit to check the different signage or which are oftentimes mounted on Direct Sign Mounts or Sign Direct Mounts in every building structure we go for our own safety. Moreover, checking the signage first helps you find your way around easily which is necessary in dark places such as the theater.

But no matter how much I enjoy watching the movies in the theater, I still prefer watching them at the comfort of our home. It is not only relaxing but it is also less expensive.

Holiday Vacation With My Family

 

The holidays are over and so is my short vacation. I wish that everyday is a holiday so I can enjoy a very long vacation where I spend more time with my family and loveones. But I know that I have to earn my keep just like everybody else. Otherwise I will end up in the streets for not having any money to pay the rent and my other bills. Anyhow, I really enjoyed my vacation no matter how short it was. 

But what I enjoyed the most during my short vacation was shopping with my family. Thankfully there are a lot of advertisements posted on gooseneck illuminated billboards which shows awesome advertisements of my favorite stores and restaurants where they are giving out big discounts to their valued customers. And in spite of the social media advertisements such as Facebook and Google, banners and posters showing the different promotional offers of different stores are also everywhere. You can find them either hanging on outdoor banner brackets or posted on the walls outside the stores, lamp posts, parks, and even in the bus and train stations. So there is a 99.9 percent chance that you will not miss the ads. These promotional ads are quite handy especially during the holiday seasons. I really saved a lot and I guess that aside from Black Friday shopping, Christmas shopping also made me feel less guilty knowing that all the items are bought at a very reasonable price.

I will always be forever looking forward to the holiday seasons. I am grateful that our bosses are giving us a time off during these holidays to spend more time with our family and loveones. These holidays have somewhat revitalizes or recharges us which makes going back to work more fun and it feels like going back to work for the first time.

The holiday season is over. Now I am left with nothing but bills just like everyone else who enjoyed shopping a lot during the holiday season. But I have no regrets shopping gifts for my family, friends and relatives. I do not mind giving gifts to the people who are important to me. Besides, there are a lot of great deals during the holiday season so you can say that shopping is guilt-free. Last year was a good 365 days for me in spite of the ups and downs but I know I handled everything in flying colors. I was able to get back on my feet especially in managing my expenses. I was able to address my issues of being a shopaholic. I am also aware that I ended the year with my last hurrah in shopping. But I am confident that none of the items I bought are unnecessary. I will not be making any new years resolution this year considering how I ended up breaking each and everyone of them and feeling guilty in the end. Happy New Year everyone!
